Israel’s Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA-IL) System

As of January 1,2025 all international travelers from visa-exempt countries must have a valid ETA-IL (Electronic Travel Authorization) prior to departing for Israel.

Similar to the ESTA for the USA, the ETA for Canada, and the upcoming ETIAS for the EU, the ETA-IL is an online authorization system designed to simplify the entry process to Israel.

Upon arriving in the country, ETA-IL holders will be able to use the electronic check-in machines previously available only to Israeli citizens and residents to complete their entry process. This should help visitors get through customs more quickly than ever, allowing them to enjoy even more of their time in Israel.

Key ETA Details:

• Visitors with a valid ETA-IL can stay up to 90 days in Israel.
• The ETA-IL is valid for up to 2 years or until the passport expires.
  • In case of passport renewal or changes in personal information, a new ETA-IL will be required.
• The ETA-IL’s cost is 25 ILS (~$7 USD/ ~$10 CAD).
• ​ International travelers who require a valid visa to visit Israel do not need to apply for the ETA-IL as well.
