Depart the U.S.A. on your flight to Israel.

2 Wednesday: Jerusalem

Welcome to Israel! Arrive Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv; meeting and transfer to your hotel in Jerusalem.  Balance of the afternoon/early evening to unpack and get familiar with your hotel. Tonight, we’ve provided tickets to the “Night Spectacular”  Sound & Light Show at the Citadel Museum located just minutes from your hotel. Overnight in Jerusalem.

3 Thursday: Jerusalem

We’ll begin the day with a tour of the Knesset Israel’s parliament building (subject to appointment confirmation), where you’ll  have an excellent opportunity to get up close and personal with Israeli policy-making. Then a great adventure– the  Segway experience – riding through the three magnificent Jerusalem promenades –Haas, Shorever and Goldman Promenades.  Enjoy the spectacular views of the Old City, Mount of Olives, Mt. Scopus and much more.  After, visit the Biblical City of David where the most exciting finds of recent years were discovered including an impressive public structure from the time of the Kings of Judea. On to the fabulous new Friends of Zion Heritage Center celebrating the Christian heroes  who have contributed to the Jewish people and the State of Israel. These heroes come alive through, cutting edge, high tech imaging, audio-visual presentations, holograms and much more.  Next,  a tour of Jerusalem’s neighborhoods combining a stroll and ride through the various areas beginning with lovely Yemin Moshe, established by the British philanthropist Moshe Montefiore to help relieve congestion and poverty in the Jewish Quarter.  We’ll continue to Mishkenot Shananim established as the first Jewish neighborhood outside the walls of the Old City.  See the famous Montefiore Windmill before continuing to the ultra orthodox neighborhood of Mea Shearim.    Evening is at leisure to revisit the “Midrechov” with great shopping and restaurants or the elegant Alrov Mamilla Avenue, a stretch of  beautiful architecture  connecting the old and the new with an  array of high-end shops, cafes and restaurants– all just a short walk  from your hotel. The shops and restaurants are open late as it’s the eve of the lively Israeli weekend. Overnight in Jerusalem. (B) 

4 Friday: Jerusalem

A revisit to Yad Vashem,  memorial to the Holocaust, is a must, following the decade long restoration project which expanded the museum with many more exhibitions.  You will be privately guided through the exhibitions by one of the museum guides. On to the Mahane Yehuda Market for a delightful “shuk bites” experience .  Meet with the colorful vendors who will captivate you with their personal stories while you taste their Israeli grown vegetables, spices, freshly baked breads, meat delicacies, pastries and so much more! A culinary delight!  Return to the hotel and in the early evening your guide will take you to join the throngs of visitors at the illuminated Western Wall for a unique and moving experience.  You’ll see and hear the Jerusalemites welcoming the Jewish Sabbath. Tonight, you may either join a Jerusalem family for home hospitality on the “Shabbat of a Lifetime” program, and enjoy an absolutely delicious home cooked meal or, if you wish, you may have Shabbat dinner at your hotel—the choice is yours. 5 Saturday: Jerusalem

6 Sunday: Jerusalem

You’ll love the Menachem Begin Museum, where, using the life story of the 6th Prime Minister of Israel, the visitor is taken on a journey through history using reconstructions, original items, rare documentary films as well as reenactments, interactive elements, dramatic lighting and an inspiring soundtrack.  Proceed to the 9/11 Living Memorial, built in memory of the victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks. Designed by award winning Israeli artist Eliezer Weishoff, and commissioned by JNF, the memorial depicts the World Trade Center and Pentagon through sculpture and landscape architecture. It is the only place outside of New York that recognizes the names of the people who were killed on 9/11 as well as their countries of origin. On to Ammunition Hill, where one of the most fierce and famous battles of the Six Day War (1967) took place and now a public park and museum. Walk through the battleground and bunkers on a tour that follows the footsteps of the soldiers who fought here. See the new “Seam-Line” presentation about the Six-Day War and the reunification of Jerusalem.  End your visit at the JNF Wall of Honor honoring Jewish veterans from around the World.  Overnight in Jerusalem.  (B)

7 Monday: Mitzpe Ramon

Sleep a bit later this morning before heading south on your way to Mitzpeh Ramon visiting first the Dead Sea, 1200 feet below sea level. Stop at a Dead Sea Spa hotel where we’ve arranged for use of the facilities, enjoying a “float” in the sea’s unique waters enriched with minerals. Lunch at the Spa Hotel before continuing through the Negev to Mitzpeh Ramon and the most spectacular resort in all of Israel—the Beresheet Hotel & Spa built on the edge of the Ramon Crater one of the most impressive geological natural phenomena on the face of the earth.  A stay at the Beresheet Resort is simply breathtaking—you’ll never want to leave!  We’ve reserved a fabulous 50 minute  Spa treatment during your stay. This evening, enjoy a delicious buffet dinner at the resort. (B.L.D)

8 Tuesday: Mitzpe Ramon

A fabulous desert adventure today as we enjoy a morning Jeep Ride with our expert naturalist. Discover the Ramon Crater, the largest of its kind and one of only seven like it in the world. Its formation dates back 220 million years!  Return to the  Beresheet for optional spa treatments, rest and relaxation.  Dinner at the Hotel.  (B.D)

9 Wednesday: Tel Aviv

Drive north to Kibbutz Sde Boker,  desert home of  Israel’s founder and first Prime Minister, David Ben Gurion.   The hut in which he lived from the day he moved there until his death in 1973 is preserved exactly as it was when he lived there. Continue to Tel Aviv and Old Jaffa, where you’ll be amazed at the newly developed flee market area full of cafes and great shopping! Time permitting, stroll through the artists’ galleries in Jaffa .We’ll also make a stop at Sarona, a former Templar settlement recently restored to perfection with beautifully landscaped gardens and upscale restaurants. Taste the delicacies at the new newly opened Sarona Market, one of the best in Israel.   Evening is at leisure. Enjoy the beachfront promenade or the hip port area (“Namal”) with its yachts, eateries and cafe-filled boardwalk.  During the summertime, you can enjoy the “White Nights” festivals with many open air concerts. Your guide will be happy to suggest the most happening spot during these special evenings in the Tel Aviv/Jaffa area. Overnight in Tel Aviv at your hotel on the Mediterranean Shore. (B)

10 Thursday: Tel Aviv

Full day at leisure to enjoy the vibrancy of Tel Aviv, the city that never sleeps.  Overnight Tel Aviv. (B)
